気配という人の音がする
その音が絶えた時の
いいしれない寂しさよ

人の音とかいて、ヒトノト。日本人にとっての日本。普段使いのもの。暮らしの習慣。あたりまえと思っていることの中に、喜びを与えてくれる瞬間が隠れていると思うようになりました。まずは、余計なものを捨てることからはじめます。整頓して今あるものを生かします。そして、少しづつ足していく。愛着をもって使っていきたいと思えるモノだったり、人とつながりをもてる時間だったりを。こればかりは1日にして成ることではないので、模索しながら積み重ねていきます。

石川県金沢市菊川の町家を拠点に、場を設けることになりました。自然と対峙して生まれる手仕事の作品、素材から着想を得て作られるアート作品、時を経るほどに味わいを増す古物など。私たちが実際に使い、心動かされたものを共有する場所。展示や企画を通して価値観が交わり、つながりが生まれるきっかけとなれるように学びたいと思います。

hitonoto means “the sound of people.”

Japan, as experienced by those who live here.
The objects we use every day. The customs that shape our lives.

We have come to believe that moments of joy are hidden within the things we take for granted.

We begin by letting go of what is unnecessary—bringing order to our surroundings and making the most of what is already here. Then, little by little, we add to it: objects that carry the trace of a human presence and invite lasting affection, and moments that connect us with others.

This is not something that can be achieved in a day. We will continue to explore, learn, and build upon it over time.

With a traditional machiya townhouse in Kikugawa, Kanazawa, as our home, we are creating a place for works of craft born from an intimate dialogue with nature, and works of art that reflect the lives and values of those who make them.

Through exhibitions and other projects, we hope to create opportunities for different perspectives to meet and new connections to emerge. To make this possible, we will continue to learn.
